This is one of the (many) reasons for not updating or posting recently.
The chair belonged to my Nan and has been languishing in my mothers garden for the past 9 years or so. I decided it was time to restore it to some of it's former glory and in the process create a lovely gift for my mothers imminent birthday (she never looks on Flickr so I think it is safe to post this as she gets the chair on Saturday) and in the process give me some practice in learning how to Rattan Weave. I am very pleased with the results. It was originally painted in some heavy 1960s gloss but I have unfortunately lost the photos from my point and shoot.
Not entirely sure that I will jump in to Rattan weaving again, but it was good practice for the dining chairs we are looking to find and restore when we finish the kitchen.
