For this very reason I choose to publish some of my works under the Creative Commons as I am a great believer in sharing. What really irks me is when this trust is abused and you find an image you have taken is posted (across the likes of Facebook) with alterations yet not a single mention of the fact that I took the image. What irks me even more is when it is, to my mind, for financial gain!
I suppose it is one of the draw backs of trusting that people (because ultimately it is a person that makes the decision to choose an image that they feel captures what they are looking for) will follow the good will and intention of what the Commons is meant to enable, primarily maximising digital creativity, sharing, and
innovation.
I do hope my optimism pays off and that credit, where credit is due transpires...
