Restoration man - part 2

So, it's been a busy few days! My brother and Jenny came to visit on their way to Aviemore which involved lots of lovely food and a few glasses of wine. They are due to stop off on the return leg this weekend so it's haggis,  neeps and tatties as a treat for them with Mrs Ks whisky sauce - cannae wait!

I've also made good progress on the chest of drawers. As you can see I now have a full set of drawers as opposed to a pile of wood. I've got to find some handles but apart from that they are all held together as they would have originally been as the dovetails were almost all in good condition and I've only had to make 3 new battens to support the base. So, apart from a lick of glue and a little patience they are almost as good as the day they were originally made (probably).

I've also fixed the carcass and repaired all the cracks. Good old 'no more nails'!

Now to sand the carcass and fix the stand (I worked out what all the extra bits of wood are for!)

Hopefully this time next week it will be sitting pride of place in the kitchen...
