I find it difficult sometimes when I am editing and organising my photography to choose what I keep for myself and what I display to the rest of the world!
I have never been one for the scenic shots or standing in front of a famous landmark. I know I have been seen the sights and, needless to say, so have several millions of other travellers! So I tend to "um!" and "ah!" a lot when I come across these memories. I suppose it's because they do not feel unique enough or original in their execution. I love to look for the ignored and unseen (or rarely noticed).
However, it occurred to me whilst we visited Bute that I had never taken the almost obligatory photo you see on many a pebbled beach.
So I attempted it.
I felt a little odd arranging the stones, finding some that would fit together and setting them up ready for their shoot. I spent a good five minutes playing about until I finally got what I had set out to achieve. I had done it! I had taken the obligatory photo of tome pebbles that had been painstakingly stacked in to a tower!
And there I left them standing to await the elements, the tide and their fate!
When I first saw the final shots on my desktop I felt a lacklustre pang. It was a photo of some pebbles! Wow!
But then it occurred to me that these particular stones, the ones I had chosen to bring together, would never again be reunited unless by some inordinate occurrence of fate and probability (OK! I know they are only stones but let me have this moment!)
This moment would never be repeated or seen again. And now I get why this is such an original photo to take when you are visiting any pebbled beach!
